Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 157 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Apparenly "Stackers" was the early accepted answer for SO, and I'm sure there are "fault tolerants", "meta junkies", and "super friends" out there as well. But with the upcoming dev days and such, what are we going to call those "all purpose" folks that are trying to thrive in the whole community?

Flow jockeys? S-Heads? SCubies? (bad variant of S Cubed combined with too much Scooby-Doo my kids are watching lately)

Somtehing else?

There's a really good joke answer here, but I can't put my finger on it. – mmyers Jul 27 '09 at 17:35
I'm a moderator of the Thuper Youthers – TheTXI Jul 27 '09 at 19:12
What about the horrible sofu's or by it regexp ^s[ofu]$ – OscarRyz Jul 27 '09 at 19:23

You can call me "Sir".

I thought it was "Al"? – Dillie-O Jul 27 '09 at 17:44

Oh, good lord. Please, no.

The day someone starts labeling any Stackoverflow user as "Stacker" or a "Stackee" or a Something-Or-Other Badgie... is the day I start anonomous-izing my account. Can you say "pop-culture-burnout, jumping-the-shark"?

Not easily - that's a mouthful! – Andy Mikula Jul 27 '09 at 19:33

I'd start by using their first name...

The question is not about the individuals, but the group as a whole. – Stu Thompson Jul 27 '09 at 18:36
I upvoted this just to annoy Stu – TheTXI Jul 27 '09 at 19:13
I upvoted this for the same reason The did. – Hilarious Comedy Pesto Jul 27 '09 at 19:14
Ah! Shucks, guys! Now I know you really care! – Stu Thompson Jul 27 '09 at 19:19

Call me Ishmael.

+1: I lol'd. – Hilarious Comedy Pesto Jul 27 '09 at 19:22

I am Spartacus.

Oh and I always said the proper term is "nerds" and then people will follow the pattern and correct me declaring the correct term is "geeks"

share|improve this answer
Let's combine them. Do you want neeks or gerds? – Hilarious Comedy Pesto Jul 27 '09 at 19:15
@Pesto: That's what you get when nerds and geeks interbreed. – gnostradamus Jul 27 '09 at 19:17
@gnovice: Don't be silly. What are the chances of a nerd or a geek breeding? – Hilarious Comedy Pesto Jul 27 '09 at 19:27
@Pesto: Well who the hell else are nerds and geeks going to breed with other than each other?! – gnostradamus Jul 29 '09 at 2:55

I like to refer to 'us' as SOpedians.

Stack Overflow is supposed to have this wiki-like attribute, so...hehe?

That looks too similar to Soapians ... – Tyler Carter Jul 27 '09 at 17:42
And? Sorry...not getting your point. – Stu Thompson Jul 27 '09 at 17:49
