It would appear to me that all questions tagged as are actually regarding related. However, the same is not entirely true for the reverse (hence the order I've suggested.)

A question regarding tuning the performance of the SE network is still valid as "performance", but a question regarding the performance of SE is not valid as "performance-tuning". I know this is fixing something that's not broken, by why have more tags (hence being harder to follow / sort) than need be? Especially when the meaning is synonymous.

They are not synonyms. If they're incorrectly tagged, it simply needs to be retagged. –  Lorem Ipsum Nov 13 '11 at 6:51
-_- And yet people keep lecturing me in other questions that if it's likely to happen again, a synonym should be put in place. Hence why I made this question instead of just re-tagging the few myself. –  cbroughton Nov 13 '11 at 8:05
Those make sense for say dot-net vs .net. Here, they actually do mean different things. Related yes, but not the same. If the mistake keeps happening, one way (and the preferred way) to correct the problem is to have better tag wiki excerpts explaining what each tag is for. This will still lead to a small number of users tagging incorrectly, and for that, well, manual re-tagging is necessary. Have you tried suggesting edits yet? While you retag, you could also perhaps correct typos and grammar in the title and body of the question, format code correctly... in general, tidy it up –  Lorem Ipsum Nov 13 '11 at 8:43
Well, I made this question to ask if I should even bother touching them; although, any time I've tag edited / re-tagged so far it's been approved instantly :) So I guess I'm doing good with it. –  cbroughton Nov 13 '11 at 21:54
