Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I think the badge names are actually very generic. This was either quite clever and by someone who had a lot of foresight (applying same badges to multiple sites!) or just someone giving out plain badge names.

You could have names for specific sites. There could be badges like TeXpert on, linguist on, ninja on gamedev.stackex, and I don't know what else.

And under what criteria should we use to determine when these badges should be awarded? Or if you're proposing replacing existing badge names, then which badges should be renamed? – waiwai933 Nov 28 '11 at 23:15
well there are the tag badges which are site specific but I don't think that what you meant – Some Helpful Commenter Nov 28 '11 at 23:28
