Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 157 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

This question already has an answer here:

I am used to using my smart phone to browse Stack Overflow with a web browser, but I feel that that's not a very good solution. Now I want to use a mobile app to browse SO.

Is there a mobile app for Stack Overflow, or plans to develop one? Third-party apps (both Android and iOS) would be fine for me.

sorry, i ask in the wrong place? – macskuz Dec 14 '11 at 19:57
Yes, but it's been moved to the right place now. But what do you think an app would add that the mobile site lacks? – Kevin Dec 14 '11 at 20:00
better user experience, i think. – macskuz Dec 14 '11 at 20:02
What part of the "user experience?" Just the fact that you open it from the home screen? – Kevin Dec 14 '11 at 20:05
for example, i can't format my answers to a elegant style – macskuz Dec 14 '11 at 20:10
Sure you can, I do it quite often. You just need to know how to do it without the buttons. And you're just as unlikely to get the buttons in a mobile app. – Kevin Dec 14 '11 at 20:12
good advice,i am so stupid. – macskuz Dec 14 '11 at 20:15
Come on, all you have to do is go to the respective marketplaces and search for "stackoverflow". And, by the rate of ios/android questions, I'm sure this list will be stale in about two minutes. – Won't Dec 14 '11 at 20:23
@macskuz Don't be so hard on yourself =) I thought the same thing before I got used to the mobile interface. – jadarnel27 Dec 14 '11 at 20:28
There will be. Official Android app is under active development. This comment is posted with the closed alpha version. – Ilari Kajaste Oct 21 '13 at 21:00

I am used to be using my smart phone to browse stackoverflow with a web browser, but I feel not so good, so I want to use a mobile app to browse stackoverflow.

If you see the full site on your mobile phone, click the mobile link in the footer at the bottom of any page. This works for all StackExchange sites, not just StackOverflow.

The Mobile View is actually pretty nice, and I can't really think of what a dedicated app could offer better than the mobile site, at least nothing that justifies developing an application for various platforms.

Alongside using the mobile link, there are a few apps for browsing the site and such, for both iPhone and Android devices. They are developed by own our users over at StackApps.

Six to Eight : An iPhone client (now in the App Store!) - Discontinued - View StackExchange Sites on Your SmartPhone

Droidstack for Android - now with chat support!

StackAnywhere - A Stack Exchange client for Android - Discontinued
