Like in the title, I've found out that and are the two tags that basically refer to Zend_Search_Lucene, so I vote to make those tags synonyms. I've got not enough rep to do this myself.

Currently got more questions tagged; concerning , I myself retagged several questions (shame on me) that had non-discriminant tags like before noticing there's another, more widely used tag.

Zend_Search_Lucene is Not related to the Apache Lucene full text indexing component. It is an independent implementation of an ancient version of the Apache Lucence disk format. The use of this term is a questionable use of the Apache Lucene trademark, and and at best requires attribution of that trademark. It would be better if the tag were just 'Zend_Search' or whatever. Zend-Lucene is right out, as an unattributed use of the Lucene trademark with no justification based on the historical story of Zend_Search_Lucene.

Interesting to know (I've been playing with Java's Lucene only). However I suppose many developers that use Zend_Search_Lucene might be unaware of that fact. –  jakub.g Dec 15 '11 at 21:03

Indeed they are, and that is a big problem. They discover that the Zend thing is slow and useless and blame it on Apache Lucene, which is what trademark defense is all about preventing. –  Rosinante Dec 15 '11 at 21:53
