Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 155 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Specifically, I'd like to have the capability of doing something like this (pseudocode):

Merge [tag:activity] into [tag:android-activity] where post contains [tag:android]
Merge [tag:activity] into [tag:workflow-activity] where post contains [tag:WPF]

This new feature would allow me to selectively merge variants of the ambiguous tag into their non-ambiguous equivalents.

Note that, without this feature, the only way to disambiguate in my example is to search for , and edit each post individually.

In these cases (or even generally) the retaggings should also be visible in the history of the individual posts (but without bumping them all). – Paŭlo Ebermann Jan 14 '12 at 21:07
Seconded. Would help with clustering also. Merge clustering into cluster-analysis where post has tag k-means, for example. While jboss is an indicator for a very different kind of clustering. – Anony-Mousse Jan 15 '12 at 21:29
