I have seen "Stack Overflow Valued Associate" on many user profiles. What does it mean?

@SachinShekhar you could also click the link you know. Nick, Jason :) –  Shadow Wizard Mar 27 '12 at 14:48
I don't understand why all of the downvotes. This seems like a reasonable question for people who aren't in on the joke/don't follow every single event re: Stack Exchange. I say this would be a good FAQ. –  Al E. Mar 27 '12 at 15:09
@alE - simply clicking on the link would have explained it. –  Lix Mar 27 '12 at 15:14
@AlEverett well, it's mentioned briefly in the Who are the diamond moderators, and what is their role? faq, maybe better expand it a bit instead of starting new one? –  Shadow Wizard Oct 28 '13 at 22:24
No, those are 'valet' associates. It's a typo. –  Rosinante Oct 28 '13 at 22:31

They are the employees of Stack Exchange inc.

Valued associates get announced on the blog and appear on the team list (thanks @Sha Wiz Dow Ard).
