Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

In normal spoken language, you would say "pot" is a synonym for "kettle"; you would state the source first and then the target. But the page to create tag synonyms has the text-entry fields the other way 'round, and I caught myself filling it in wrong before submitting it - this time. This is the wrong order, IMHO.

There's plenty of whitespace, so it shouldn't be a problem to have the two fields next to each other instead. It would be even better with an "→" arrow in between, or perhaps something more verbal than just the two field headings.

Why can't we do the same thing for the tag synonym UI that we did for the tag merge UI? – Cody Gray Apr 11 '12 at 16:09
I agree that the order seems backwards, but I don't know how having them next to each other helps, and it doesn't really match the rest of the UI – Michael Mrozek Apr 11 '12 at 16:18
