I was working through the low quality posts 10k review tool and editing some of the posts to improve them.

I start to get a little bit frustrated when there are some in there that either

  • I have already edited
  • I don't know enough about the given subject to make a judgement on
  • I just don't really feel like dealing with

I'd like to be able to get them dismiss them from my list so that I don't have to look at them anymore and so that I can move on to the flags that I haven't already seen--and also so that I can have the satisfying feeling of emptying my list.

I think this would also be useful for most of the review tools, including the suggested edits page as well as the close/first answers/low quality posts/first questions/late answers pages.

Posts in the close/first answers/low quality posts/first questions/late answers pages are already hidden once you've reviewed them, but I support expanding this feature to the other pages. –  animuson Apr 16 '12 at 5:44
The (new since this meta question) review queues work precisely like this: once you review an item, you don't see it again. So this is either status-completed (fulfilled by the review queue system) or obsolete (pertaining to old review interfaces that no longer exist). –  Gilles Jul 14 '14 at 11:24

1 Answer 1

I strongly support this feature request (for /tools/flagged in general). I have just recently obtained the 10k tools on SO.

I'm not really the type to blow through reviews and vote for a common flag without actually reviewing it and feeling good about the decision first. So, there are a few flag reviews that I either do not have a solid opinion on, or do not have enough knowledge about the topic to know if a flag is valid or not.

Once I collect a few of these (even just 4 or 5), they remain at the top of my flag queue. It then becomes very cumbersome to work through -- especially after leaving the page then returning to it -- to the point where I eventually just gave up and stopped reviewing flags due to the confusion (for me) and amount of effort required to constantly skip over the entries.

An implementation that I would find useful would be an additional "No Opinion" or "Skip" button. I would prefer it if it removed it from my list entirely, but it would also be effective if it grayed it out (like it does when you've already reviewed an item) or just moved it to the bottom of the queue.

It's not so much about "being satisfied with an empty list" (which is unattainable anyways given that there are more items in the queue than I have flags) as much as it is a usability / UX issue. As it stands, the workflow is a little too clogged up with flags I want to skip right now for me to continue (it's not an "I'm on strike" thing, I just can't do it, it's too hard to look at). As it stands, the only way I'd be able to keep it manageable is to add flags to posts I'd rather skip for the sole purpose of clearing them off the screen, and I know that's not the goal of the system. I don't know if I'm unique in this or not; but I am pretty sure that my response is not the intended response to the UI here.
