Possible Duplicate:
Getting authentication prompt for sockets.ny.stackexchange.com on every page load?
My corporate proxy doesn't support web sockets, which makes SE a pain to use

This could be a personal issue (i.e. my browser or security doing something), but whenever I visit ServerFault, or StackOverflow, I'm prompted for a username and password in the generic browser message window.

Clicking cancel only leads to it popping up again, and again, and again.

Entering anything at all makes it go away.

If I switch tabs and reload, it goes away.

I'll post more the next time it happens, and do a little more testing to get more info, but have any of you experienced this?

have any of you experienced this? No, never. OS? Browser? Version? Are you behind a proxy? –  Dennis May 2 '12 at 18:50
(I'm going to make a guess that that's what you're describing) –  Tim Stone May 2 '12 at 18:51
Tim, thanks for the link, that sounds exactly like my issue. I looked around for any posts similar to my problem but must not have searched for the right thing. Thanks for the help. –  John K May 2 '12 at 19:21
Same exact problem here too meta.stackexchange.com/questions/124132/… –  John K May 2 '12 at 19:24
