Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

It's not links that are excluded, but the image alt text. – Mad Scientist May 16 '12 at 13:01

Was the bug that it wasn't counting image alt-text, or that threads tagged community-ads weren't ignoring the character count? – nhinkle May 17 '12 at 5:44
@nhinkle to be specific, our character counter is looking at text now; not images, not <!-- comments --> etc, but text. Had to work around that. – Marc Gravell May 17 '12 at 18:58
