Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

The notifications panel of the StackExchange™ MultiCollider SuperDropdown™ likes to give you an opportunity to bask in the glow of a new badge by providing a direct link to your profile on the relevant site.

However, this doesn't seem to happen for per-site metas:

I don't often click through anyway, but I can't think of any particular reason why the per-site meta notifications shouldn't have a link to your meta they should, for consistency.

How do you earn Mortarboard on a per-site meta? You don't earn reputation... Is it tracked silently or something? – animuson Jun 16 '12 at 18:45
Pretty much, yeah. The system still records votes on posts and those influence badges accordingly. – Tim Stone Jun 16 '12 at 18:49
Yep certainly a bug, per site meta does have its own set of badges and its own profile page. – Shadow Wizard Jan 21 '13 at 14:26
