Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

What should one do when he feels he has asked a silly question and it may not help other SO users?

Ah, well users who speak and write English as a second language can have a hard time here. We do the best we can to accomodate them, but sometimes it's difficult. – Robert Harvey Jun 27 '12 at 3:31

Don't worry. There are other genuine users and moderators who take care of it by editing the question or closing the question (for e.g. this question). However, you can:

  1. edit your question.
  2. delete your question if it hasn't been answered.
  3. close your question by flagging for moderator attention (if you don't have the privilege to vote-to-close your own questions yet).
