Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

When linking a message from the chat transcript or a comment it doesn't always onebox it.

When you type @username {link to message / comment} it is displayed as a link, but when clicking on reply in chat and add a link it does onebox, e.g.: :messageid {link to message / comment}.

Is it possible to also let the @mention messages onebox?

I think this is technically correct, since the prerequisite for one-boxing is that the link is the only thing on the message. Not sure it's worth special-casing this for @replies, but that's a question for Balpha. :) – Adam Lear Jul 1 '12 at 16:18
Doesn't the arrow still work? That's how it shows up in chat too – Ben Brocka Jul 1 '12 at 16:33
