Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

The excerpt from a tag wiki as shown when a question's tag is hovered over is shown as typed. However, on the search page, tags are stripped. For example, 's excerpt reads:

A doctype declaration defines a document's type definition. It should be the very
first thing in an HTML document, before the <html> tag.

However, when shown on the search page, it's missing the tag:

A doctype declaration defines a document's type definition. It should be the very first thing in an HTML document, before the tag.

Not an XSS vulnerability, at least...

Yeah, that's weird. It eats the angle brackets, but doesn't respond to the backtick escape character, and the tag dropdown doesn't recognize backtick anyway. – Robert Harvey Jul 2 '12 at 21:48

Came across the issue yesterday with select. – Palec Feb 2 '14 at 7:47

Still an issue, and it appears to come dangerously close to being a security flaw. – Ryan O'Hara Jul 23 '14 at 0:08
