Possible Duplicate:
Why isn't my Gravatar image updating?
Different Gravatars being served for the same user

I have recently (a week back) uploaded a profile image on SO using gravatar. The image only shows in expanded usercard and in only one flair, no where else is the image visible, the same old default image is visible everywhere else. Is it a bug? How do I get my image to show everywhere? Have a look at my profile, to see for yourself, http://stackoverflow.com/users/1187459/ashwin-singh View my any question/answer, hover over the usercard and you will see the image there.

That's odd...just confirmed that. I've changed gravatars several times and never had that happen –  Ben Brocka Jul 13 '12 at 11:36

I'm afraid Gravatar is having caching issues, and different image sizes may actually be different images. See Different Gravatars being served for the same user. –  Arjan Jul 13 '12 at 11:36

(For me, your avatar is the same here on MSO as on SO, and the same on the expanded user card.) –  Arjan Jul 13 '12 at 11:41

So, is it me only who is seeing the error? –  Ashwin Singh Jul 13 '12 at 11:43

Some URLs with different sizes for you: profile 128x128 gravatar.com/avatar/…, small 32x32 gravatar.com/avatar/…, and expanded 64x64 gravatar.com/avatar/… –  Arjan Jul 13 '12 at 11:44

Ok, pretty new to gravatar. So, I need to set the images for every above resolution. Right? –  Ashwin Singh Jul 13 '12 at 11:47

No, all should be generated automatically; it's just that Stack Exchange is using 3 different sizes and all have different URLs, so for browsers these are different images. You may have cached some sizes in your browsers, so clearing the cache (or using a different browser to test) might help. Or, investigate a bit more and see which Gravatar server is handling your request, and see if that server is truly still giving you the old image for some sizes. Also, @Ben seems to be able to confirm it, either for your images or for his own? Also, which image are you expecting to see? –  Arjan Jul 13 '12 at 11:49

For me, for the 128x128 image using the Amsterdam server, I get your photo, with Last-Modified: Fri, 29 Jun 2012 08:10:29 GMT. Using the Frankfurt server, one gets the default image instead, with Last-Modified: Wed, 11 Jan 1984 08:00:00 GMT. Same for the 32x32 image, but the 64x64 image is okay in Frankfurt. So surely the CDN is troublesome. This needs to be reported to Gravatar. –  Arjan Jul 13 '12 at 11:54

(More debugging in my answer here.) –  Arjan Jul 13 '12 at 13:17

Gravatar support has confirmed this to be an issue; see Why isn't my Gravatar image updating? –  Arjan Jul 14 '12 at 18:18
