What is meta? ×
Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 150 Stack Exchange communities.

There are many websites that promise if you study their practice exams and Q&A you will pass your certification exams. I want to ask an open ended question about peoples personal experiences with those sites and if they are worth a try.

For example: I want to take the Oracle University 1Z0-803. These sites have pay for practice exams: http://www.actualanswers.com

Where is the appropriate form to ask this type of question?

I appreciate the feedback and I asked my question here: workplace.stackexchange.com/q/2553/1842. I intended these questions to help the community at large and not just myself. – Quinma Jul 16 '12 at 18:14
You didn't make your question specific enough. :) – Robert Harvey Jul 16 '12 at 18:33
I will be the test subject then and purchase it and post my answer next month. I appreciate the help Robert. – Quinma Jul 16 '12 at 18:47
I'm voting to close this question as off-topic because together with the self-answer, it appears to be product placement. – user259867 Mar 24 at 21:49
@Wood yes, and the answer looks spammy, maybe flag it? – nicael Mar 24 at 23:10
@nicael not sure. I just want to get this Q&A deleted. – user259867 Mar 24 at 23:12

There is a site with lots of helpful answers for java programmers: http://www.coderanch.com/forums/f-24/java-programmer-SCJP

I went ahead and tried http://enthuware.com/ product and it is really good for 10$.

Initially I wasn't going to buy any software figuring I know java really well but the test questions are really specific for things that are often times not commonly used or common knowledge. Suffice to say, I am extremely happy I bought a practice test because I scored 50% on the first practice test and it is a long way up to 75%.

It would have been incredibly embarrassing for my company to pay for the certification 300$ and find out the hard way I that I wasn't prepared.

I wouldn't buy just any practice tests because they are not equal and some are complete scams. You need to do your research and find ones that other people have used.

P.S. : thanks to using that software i passed with a 93%, otherwise i definitely would have failed.
