Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 155 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

My username is refhat and is it possible that I could restore my default username that's when I joined stackoverflow something like user765643

Just edit it yourself? – BalusC Aug 7 '12 at 0:15

You could also change your own username--there's no constraint on having duplicates if you mistakenly copy a user### that's already there. – simchona Aug 7 '12 at 0:15

Why do you need to have a username you don't know? – simchona Aug 7 '12 at 0:18

@simchona: I am asking about the username which I was assigned when I joined SE – defau1t Aug 7 '12 at 0:19

Go to your user profile. Look closely at the URL in the browser address bar.

http://stackoverflow.com/users/724764/refhat

Those digits 724764 represent your user ID. So your default user name was "user724764". You can just edit yourself in the "Display Name" field of the edit user profile page.
