Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I use Opera 9.64 on Linux.

When I edit tags (both retagging a question and tagging a brand new question (like this one)) the tag suggestion dropdown updates messes with focus of the text input field.

When new suggestions are displayed the cursor switches to the beginning of the text input field. If I type manually the rest of the tag that I want (rather than accepting one of the suggestions with a mouse click or whatever), I'll just prefix the first tag I've typed.

Same here. This used to work a couple of weeks ago and then went bonkers. – innaM Aug 17 '09 at 12:04
Manni: agreed, it used to work. – Tadeusz A. Kadłubowski Aug 17 '09 at 12:06
You are not alone: – random Aug 17 '09 at 13:52

You may need to upgrade to Opera 10 in order for the autosuggest of tags to work on your machine.

what he said -- upgrade to Opera 10, the slightly less broken version. It is my hope by Opera 15, we'll have a version equivalent to the current state of IE, Firefox, or Chrome. – Jeff Atwood Sep 14 '09 at 1:32

I actually had to disable the autosuggest completely via user.js just so the form would submit. I'm using the latest version of Opera available at the time of this writing.

    function(){return false;}
