Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 157 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I wrote this answer. Saved it; edited it again. While doing the second edit I was informed that a "new answer" has been posted. Alas, there was no new answer other than my own.

So far, I never encountered this problem. On the other hand, I am currently connected via a hotspotting cellphone — so maybe this is due to some lags.

I do see this from time to time. It's an uncommon race condition, but since it occurs at the same time you post, it is readily identifiable as yours. – Robert Harvey Oct 8 '12 at 5:38
