Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Would it be possible to get a question view that shows questions from multiple sites?

Now that SE is splitting off into so many sites, I frequently find myself logging into 5+ sites to see what's new on each one.

It would be much easier if I could have a single question list which shows me questions from all the sites I'm interested in, and clicking on a question could still take me to the individual site.

I'd really only be interested in the New, Unanswered, and possibly Featured lists, and would want the ability to filter each site by tags.

You can already create filtered lists, combining tags from all the sites you're interested in, no need to check multiple sites. It's not exactly what you are asking for, but it's a good enough solution in case the feature is declined.

Never knew that existed, thanks. I realized one big problem with it though - I can't filter SO by tag. The number of questions is a bit unrealistic to go through without a tag filter, which means I can't really combine SO with other sites easily to create one big view. Still, it will work with smaller sites. – Rachel Oct 30 '12 at 17:08
@Rachel See, SO is just too big, that's (one of the many reasons) why Programmers is awesome. – Yannis Oct 30 '12 at 17:10
Actually, I wouldn't have this problem is SE stopped spreading out their programmer content so much in the first place :) – Rachel Oct 30 '12 at 17:16
@Rachel Yeah, but then you wouldn't really be interested in following any questions, SE would be Yahoo! Answers. – Yannis Oct 30 '12 at 17:17
There are many reasons why SE is not Yahoo Answers - better design, reputation, community moderation/editing, etc. I just checked out exactly what features Yahoo Answers has, and found they've improved quite a bit since I last saw them, allowing you to filter by categories, making it easier to identify the answers, showing "up" votes, etc. The filter by category actually is remarkably similar to SE, except Yahoo has everything on one site and is not so strict with their question requirements, while SE has more detailed categories and is much stricter with their questions. – Rachel Oct 30 '12 at 17:24
@Rachel I'm happy you found a place you like then ;) – Yannis Oct 30 '12 at 17:25
