Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 146 Stack Exchange communities.

I like using Stack Overflow (or any other Stack Exchange sites) and was wondering if there was an app I could install on my phone or other device that would allow me to use the site on-the-go or straight from my desktop.

Some systems to consider:

  • Windows 8
  • Android
  • iPhone/iOS

What are some apps that I could install to my computer or phone to enhance my Stack Exchange experience?

If you didn't know, every Stack Exchange site also has a mobile site which provides an altered way of viewing each site, specially designed for mobile devices. You should automatically reach the mobile site just by visiting it from a mobile device, but you can also get there manually by clicking the "mobile" link in the footer.

Mobile site

The official mobile sites provide all functionality (except reviews), including creating new questions and answers, voting and commenting.

If you prefer a native app over the mobile site, there are plenty of apps available based on your device.

Available on the Apple App Store:

Available on Google Play:

Available in the Windows Store:

  • There is not currently an official Windows Phone app.

Any news on an official Windows Phone app? I used the official one on my Andriod and I think it's the best, but now I have a Windows Phone.. :) –  Abbas Jul 18 '14 at 9:48

@Abbas No, Windows Phone still has a relatively low market share and they're not interested in it right now. See Stack Exchange application for Windows Phone OS –  animuson Jul 18 '14 at 17:43

I see there's an official Stack Exchange app for Android. Has this been updated to post questions and to vote? –  user261920 Jun 7 at 0:40

@SarahofGaia Yes, the API has supported these behaviors for some time now. –  animuson Jun 7 at 0:43

@animuson: So is there anything on the full site that I should be aware isn't possible on the mobile app? What about on the mobile site? –  user261920 Jun 7 at 1:49

@SarahofGaia The review queues still aren't available on the mobile site or the apps. There may be other small things but I don't have a full list off the top of my head. –  animuson Jun 7 at 1:50

What are "review queries"? (I did a quick search on Meta and couldn't find any answers.) –  user261920 Jun 7 at 1:54

@SarahofGaia the /review path of any site, where all the review queues reside. –  Braiam Jun 7 at 1:55

@Braiam: Okay, but what exactly is a "review query"? –  user261920 Jun 7 at 1:58

@SarahofGaia it doesn't say "query" but queues. –  Braiam Jun 7 at 2:08

...oh. :I Sorry about that. Thanks for clarifying. 👍 –  user261920 Jun 7 at 5:21
