I know you like me and all but I don't think it's appropriate that you keep sending girls to talk to me.

Joyce seems really nice, adorable and confident though I don't think I put my email address in my profile for these purposes.

Don't get me wrong, maybe some other time, some other place, I would love to take Joyce out, but not like this. I need to look her in the eyes so that I can tell her I find her attractive.

Maybe it's my regret to not go home with a girl from an email, though I am willing to let it pass. Something tells me I can do better.

I've been building my SO rep for years and still haven't received an offer from a girl - what's your secret? –  slugster Nov 19 '12 at 2:56

@slugster It's the gold badges more than the rep. –  jonsca Nov 19 '12 at 3:00

Someone should probably put a PSA out to these ladies informing them about the well-known link between meta.stackoverflow.com and murder. –  TCPMAN.EXE Nov 19 '12 at 3:11

Looks like ordinary crappy spam to me. Spammers just use buzzwords, for good or for bad Stack Overflow (and its Meta site) became just that. They have no idea you're even a user, they just send this to millions of poor victims and counting on some of them really having account, really falling to this and really replying and thus confirming they got valid email. Reply at your own risk!! –  Shadow Wizard Nov 19 '12 at 7:25

Looks like you didn't even have a profile here on MSO until just a bit before posting this question. My money's on Joyce lying to you.

(As jonsca mentioned, we don't display your email publicly unless you add it to your "About Me" profile section yourself or post in in a question, an answer, or a comment somewhere on the site.)

I got one of these too... You all better back off. What Joyce and I have is real and forever.

I don't think Joyce would do that, she seems wholesome –  Michael Mrozek Nov 19 '12 at 0:46

@MichaelMrozek I am sorry that it had to come out like this. –  Anna Lear Nov 19 '12 at 0:48

Do you have a number for Joyce? She hasn't even considered talking to me and I'd like to give her a piece of my mind (for ignoring me)! –  RolandiXor Nov 19 '12 at 1:44

So... Now for the obvious question: how did she get the emails if she didn't find them in the about me section? jokerdino doesn't have his publicly available, yet he got one. –  jrg Nov 19 '12 at 1:45

I told you man, Joyce has limited tastes. She likes dinos and young ruby hackers, but she doesn't like me :/ –  RolandiXor Nov 19 '12 at 1:51

First, if you don't want her, I'll have her, so let me copy that email down before you delete the image.

In all seriousness, though, if you put your email in plain text in your "About me" area of your MSO profile, it is fair game for spammers or anyone else. If your email is not in your "About me" area, then SE did not release your email (while it is displayed on your profile when you view it, that field is only visible to moderators, administrators, etc.), and it was obtained through some other (nefarious) method.

For what it's worth, my email address has been in my "About me" for a long time, and yet I didn't get anything from Joyce. –  Kyle Cronin Nov 19 '12 at 1:05

@KyleCronin Look, you could have just come right out and asked me to forward your info to her. ;) I'm not sure how else "she" would have gotten his address, though. –  jonsca Nov 19 '12 at 1:10
