Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I am trying to write queries on the data explorer to retrieve the posts that have been converted into comments.

However the votes, comments and posthistory tables have no information that shows when an answer got converted into a comment.

Is there any way to retrieve posts that started out as answers and got converted into comments later?

Sorry, but no, that PostHistory type isn't available in the public version of the Data Explorer or the data dumps.

Thanks @Anna Lear; do you know if I could get access to this in any other way? – AbdulFattah Popoola Nov 28 '12 at 7:16

@AbdulFattahPopoola Unfortunately, not really. When an answer is converted to a comment, it's deleted, so it won't appear in the public data dumps, SEDE, or the API at all, nevermind any information about what happened to it. – Adam Lear Dec 11 '12 at 21:46
