Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

DRYML is a templating markup/tagging language used in Hobo, which is a plugin for Ruby on Rails. I just looked at the tag (I had a question about it) and found only two questions, both also tagged . I was all set to recommend it as a synonym, too, except I don't have the rep.

With some trepidation, I removed the tags from questions where it seemed redundant so that the system will clean 'em up eventually, but I thought I'd post here rather than assassinate it silently.

They are not synonym, as the template markup language used from Hobo is just a part of Hobo; in the same way, is not a synonym of . (The View module is just one of many Drupal modules.)

What you can argue is the need of using . If the questions using it were just 2 out of 20 tagged , then it is probable it is was not necessary to use it.

If you don't think it's a reasonable synonym - and your arguments are good - why did you add the synonym-request tag? – pjmorse Dec 17 '12 at 12:03
Because you said, "I was all set to recommend it as a synonym, too, except I don't have the rep." I guess you created this question to discuss about making a synonym. If that is the purpouse, then synonym-request is the right tag, whenever I think the tag is correct, or not. – kiamlaluno Dec 17 '12 at 14:17
Ah, OK, I was being confusing, sorry. What I meant to say was that I was considering suggesting it as a synonym, but discovered I couldn't (at least not directly) and, in doing the research, realized that probably wasn't the appropriate path anyway. I agree, too, that they're not truly synonyms, but the dryml tag would be a lot more useful if, for example, the hobo tag was so busy there was a need to focus on subsystems, the way there is with drupal and drupal-views. – pjmorse Dec 17 '12 at 14:55
In the case of Drupal, not every user who answers questions about Drupal answers questions about the Views module. Even if every user answering questions about Drupal would answer questions about the Views module, I would not make drupal-views a synonym of drupal. It all depends from the questions tagged dryml. As they were just 2 out of 20 questions, then it means that there are few questions about that topic, or there are just one/two users who thought to use that tag. In either way, it seems the tag was not needed, as few questions used it. – kiamlaluno Dec 18 '12 at 0:40
I think that we agree with each other. – pjmorse Dec 18 '12 at 1:53
