Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I just happen to come across tag on SO. Which I think is not a correct and meaningful tag.

It should probably be deleted.

Definitely looks like a meta-tag to me, yes. – Martijn Pieters Jan 8 '13 at 18:29

I hate tags without a wiki summary. – Austin Henley Jan 8 '13 at 18:32

Hey, it's totally legit. I will name my programming language thus. – Daniel Fischer Jan 8 '13 at 18:47

@AustinHenley and I hate tags that no reasonable person would be expected to search on or subscribe to. – Some Helpful Commenter Jan 8 '13 at 18:47

@Martijn Please can you tell me how 'meta-tags' tag is related with this? I am probably misunderstanding this. – mtk Jan 8 '13 at 19:10

@mtk: The not-responding tag cannot stand on it's own. See blog.stackoverflow.com/2010/08/the-death-of-meta-tags as well. This is a meta tag as it cannot ever be applied to a post alone without other tags. – Martijn Pieters Jan 8 '13 at 19:12

@Martijn Thanks for the explanation. I really mis-interpreted the word 'meta-tags'. – mtk Jan 8 '13 at 19:28
