Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 157 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I just improved an answer which was one second later edited by another user with the same actions, so that the diff is completely empty. I think the later edit should been dropped automatically.

Here is the question I'm talking about: http://stackoverflow.com/posts/14439736/revisions

This is basically a dupe of any bug report about the existing race condition in editing; opening the editor on a post at the same time can lead to one edit overwriting another. In your case the conflicting edit happened to be the same, but the situation is exactly the same. – Martijn Pieters Jan 21 '13 at 13:46
