Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

There are TONS of these on stackoverflow, all of them recommending more or less the same solution (specify a value for --with-gcc option), but all with conflicting ideas of what exactly to do, and none of them containing a solution that works for the latest version of xcode on mountain lion (I eventually worked out I needed --with-gcc=gcc)

I wonder if someone with greater editorial rights than me would consider it worthwhile compiling all this noise into a post that attempts to explain how to configure rvm for use with different osx/xcode/ruby versions.
