Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 157 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Site mods can currently set feeds to automatically chat messages in their chat rooms. Additionally, they can create a special feed user account specially for this purpose.

Since these users have no parent site, no rep, negative user ids, and (usually) no information other than recent chat messages, users who know of these phantom accounts can easily identify them. However, users unfamiliar with this feature would be easily confused (I was). (Sometimes site mods may write an "about" explaining that the user is a bot, but this is usually not the case.)

Would it be possible to clearly indicate the nature of these users on their profile?

"Feed User" only appears if you're a moderator – random Jan 30 '13 at 4:43
