Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

http://webapps.stackexchange.com/ is intended for "users of web applications", while stackoverflow.com is intended for "professional and enthusiast programmers." If I want to post a question about MediaWiki syntax (i. e., the syntax for creating templates), would it be better to post the question on http://stackoverflow.com or on http://webapps.stackexchange.com/?

It's not easy to decide which of the two sites would be a better fit for this question - is wiki markup considered relevant on Stack Overflow? – Anderson Green Jan 31 '13 at 2:56

Looks like only 4 of 63 are closed on webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/mediawiki – random Jan 31 '13 at 3:21

@random The vast majority of these questions aren't about wiki markup, though. Would questions about wiki markup be considered relevant on either Stack Overflow or webapps.stackexchange.com? – Anderson Green Jan 31 '13 at 3:56
