Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 155 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I have forgotten my email address used for the account, http://stackoverflow.com/users/1075254/lofa-in .

My new account is http://stackoverflow.com/users/930544/log-in

Can I merge these two accounts anyway? Or can I recover the old account?

You will probably need to provide some proof that its your account... I would contact team@stackexchange.com instead of posting to meta. – Richard J. Ross III Feb 6 '13 at 6:46

Do you still have access to the email account and just don't know which (of your presumably many) accounts you used? – balpha Feb 6 '13 at 6:48

@balpha: Yes, that is the case.What to do then? – e p Feb 6 '13 at 6:49

I'll send an email to the address registered with the other account, so you can confirm the merge. – balpha Feb 6 '13 at 6:50

@balpha: To the email id of my current account, right? – e p Feb 6 '13 at 6:53

That would hardly confirm that you own the other account. No, to the other account's email -- that's why I asked whether you still have access to that email account. – balpha Feb 6 '13 at 6:55

I had created a separate email id for that account, which was not using frequently. Bad luck, I forgot that one. But I can access the one surely. – e p Feb 6 '13 at 6:59
