I saw this question, but it's hardly for dummies. Let's say I'd like to register a domain with GoDaddy (or whatever other alternative) and work from there. Can someone point out how to do this, and connect that domain with the SE engine?

I've had to do it for a few domains, so I kinda got a hang of it. Here is what you do.
Now you are done with the registrar, and it's time to setup your stackexchange settings.
Don't worry if your domain isn't working right away, it can take a couple of hours for the dns to go out into the world. Also some times your browser maybe using a cached version of the dns, and you may not see the redirect, when it's working. So go to a proxy and enter your site using one of those to check. |

I have said this several times in my questions. I still can't solve the problem and the answers to questions out there are way too complicated. Need someone from FogCreek to confirm how to set this up (and if users still can't point their domain to [x].stackexchange.com, then help out fixing the problem). |
