Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

The tags and are both used on Stack Overflow to refer to the same thing. I don't have a high-enough score in either of them to propose synonyms. What can be done?

I think should probably be the canonical tag, since the initialism DDS is ambiguous.

A third synonym could be , but no one is using that tag currently.

I think in this case we should just change all dds questions and not use this tag at all because it's ambigious. Having this tag as a synonym doesn't help anyone. I'm not sure, but maybe there's even possibility to block a tag? – Georg Schölly Feb 25 '13 at 19:35

Well, at least the first question I found in is not about data-distribution-service:Java Library for reading and writing DDS textures; so a revision/clean-up of it's in order first.
