Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 153 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

The tag is not meaningful enough to keep around; it doesn't even have a tag wiki (what would that even contain?). Can we disallow it?

There are a bunch of specialized [-engine] tags that some of these should be retagged to, e.g. [search] + [engine] -> [search-engine] etc. – hammar May 25 '13 at 21:07
Oh and there's also the plural version [engines] which should be eliminated as well. – hammar May 25 '13 at 21:09
