What is meta? ×
Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 131 Stack Exchange communities.

Please answer with a specific date.

I'll accept the first answer with the correct date (once he does).

p.s.

Ahhh, the unabashed frivolity that is meta-SO. I hope this doesn't get closed.

Does fun belong on meta? I sure hope so.

Fun is only "occasionally permitted" on Stack Overflow, so it's probably the same here ;-) –  Jonathan Webb Jun 28 '09 at 14:50

About a year later, he's sitting comfortably in third. (Does he sit comfortably? I'd better check my Jon Skeet facts). –  Andrew Grimm Mar 19 '10 at 13:25

It has now happened... briefly. He's already slipped back down to 4th place. Hopefully when he wakes up he can retake the lead.

I gain a small crumb of comfort that I was (very) briefly above Jon in the rankings - chrisforman.me.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/… –  ChrisF Jul 5 '09 at 17:35

I doubt it very much. I'd expect Jeff to be the top user here, at least in the long term.

Aside from anything else, I doubt that I'll check Meta as often as SO - but more importantly, Jeff is the authority in terms of intended behaviour. Where I might quote the C# spec on SO, Jeff can just say how the system is meant to behave at the moment :)

Admittedly that's not the same thing as the community idea of what's best, but given the time Jeff has spent thinking about these things, I expect his opinions will garner a lot of votes quickly. I don't think it's coincidence that so far he's the only Meta user to break the rep cap :)

EDIT: (A few days later.) Okay, so it turns out I'm just as addicted to Meta as to SO. I still expect Jeff to usually be at the top though.

A) No fair! You can't interfere with the pool by saying you're not going to participate as much. B) I doubt Jeff will be the rank leader, actually. I don't think he's a meta fanatic (to put it mildly), so I can definitely see true fanatics taking the lead. –  Assaf Lavie Jun 28 '09 at 15:06

We'll see then. And I certainly won't deliberately not participate as much - it's just a matter of only having a certain amount of time. I think I can be more valuable on SO. –  Jon Skeet Jun 28 '09 at 15:34

An answer about how you don't think you will have the top spot put you over the top. :) –  Rex Logan Jul 2 '09 at 0:27

John Skeet has more rep on META than I have on SO AND I have a respectable score. Stack Overflow Anonymous anyone? There must be a 12 program for this, Jon. –  jrcs3 Jul 5 '09 at 21:44

Step 1: Admit you have a problem. I can't seem to get past that one. –  Dexter Jul 19 '09 at 4:58

What is with all the Skeet-worshipping around SO? Isn't it a bit fanboyish?

I love him too...erm, In a strictly platonic way of course. But there's a big difference between that and melting over him :) –  Jonathan Sampson Jul 2 '09 at 1:03

This seems like it should be a whole entire meta-question all by itself (though it probably is already). –  Chris Thompson Jul 2 '09 at 3:20

Yesterday.

(I know that this answer will be right some time, at least for a day or so ;-)

Update: Just thought to let you know...
At this time, Jon Skeet is only 9 (nine) points behind the first (Jeff). This means... only one (1) up-vote on an answer (assuming he hasn't reached his cap today, which I think he has).

Update - 6/30/2009

Jon's in 3rd place.

Go, Jon, go!

Good day, my name is Ólafur Waage and here's today's Jon Skeet update.

Currently he is 23 rep behind the top user dbr and only 20 rep behind the site's owner Jeff Atwood.

This is truly exciting so tune in tomorrow for another exciting update.

Man my English really failed me there, I had to get a translator for that comment :) But I don't think Jon is capped for the day and I am. –  Ólafur Waage Jul 5 '09 at 22:14

As of now, he is 80 rep points behind Jeff, so I guess tomorrow at noon, at the most.
