Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 153 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I tried changing my profile image using the "web" method with the following URL:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/22/Habit_de_Mar%C3%AAchal.jpg

It was denied, saying it was the wrong format, because of the URL encoding. Downloading the file and renaming it allowed me to upload the file.

The same error occurs when trying to use the image uploader for a question or answer, but not the one in chat. – JohnB Aug 22 '13 at 1:55

The word you're looking for is accept, not except. – TRiG is Timothy Richard Green Aug 22 '13 at 1:59

Or maybe expect @TRiG. – Doorknob Aug 22 '13 at 2:01

Hmm. I've seen except*/*accept confusion quite often, and I suspect that accept was intended in this case. However, expect works reasonably well, I suppose. No harm either way. – TRiG is Timothy Richard Green Aug 22 '13 at 18:34
