Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 127 Stack Exchange communities.

I want to check if I have ever answered any questions asked by a particular user, by the user name. Is there a search syntax for this?

no, but there is a query that might help data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/108025/… –  juergen d Oct 10 '13 at 9:09

Remember we can't search anything by username(i.e. display-name) except users and leagues. We have to use user's ID to search. –  hims056 Oct 10 '13 at 9:16

People change their display names a lot. –  hjpotter92 Oct 10 '13 at 9:22

@hjpotter92, user id would work too. –  Noseratio Oct 10 '13 at 9:23

@juergend, feel free to post your comment as an answer, I'd accept it. –  Noseratio Oct 10 '13 at 9:24

You can use user:<id> in the search box in that case. –  hjpotter92 Oct 10 '13 at 9:26

Currently there is no search pattern that would return your desired results.

But you could use a query from the Data Explorer to get post where you ran into a specific user.

But keep in mind that the Data Explorer is not up-to-date. It is updated weekly.
