I need some advises and suggestions for handling the following setup

1 - www.mysite.com : My main landing page will be a WordPress template (Hosted at BlueHost)

2 - www.mysite.com/ask : will be my StackExchange in English (Hosted at FogCreek)

3 - www.mysite.com/fr : landing page for French users (same as 1 but in French - Hosted at BlueHost)

4 - www.mysite.com/fr/ask : will be my StackExchange in French (Hosted at FogCreek)

How my DNS should be setup : CNAME & A records

It might be easier to use sub-domains.

  1. www.mysite.com (Wordpress)
  2. ask.mysite.com (SE)

If you are willing to buy a French domain, why not get www.mysite.fr for 3, and ask.mysite.fr for 4? Otherwise you could just have:

  1. fr.mysite.com
  2. ask.fr.mysite.com

The reason why I suggest sub-domains is because SE uses the whole domain.

+1, but with a minor nitpick: SE needs a hostname entirely to itself, not "the whole domain". :-) – Chris W. Rea Nov 28 at 23:38
