Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 157 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

There were two answers when I edited it and right after the edit they were gone. Seems unlikely that they both deleted their answers just as I made the edit.

hmm, mods, check whether those answers are deleted or not. – Maxim Zaslavsky Nov 24 '09 at 1:54

It looks like the edits you made to the question changed it enough that the answers were no longer valid. Both of the answers were deleted by their respective authors right after an edit that you made.

I'm aware that high rep users can see deleted answers, what about letting the question owner see them as well? – tolomea Nov 24 '09 at 3:56
No. Deleted answers are deleted for a reason. Often it's because they are not correct anymore, but I'm sure sometimes people want their answer to stay invisible. – Georg Schölly Nov 24 '09 at 13:42
