Possible Duplicate:
What can StackOverflow do to persuade female programmers to participate more?

Is it just me or Stackoverflow is really dominated by male gender. I rarely see any ladies answering questions. I would refuse to believe that we do not have enough women in IT. Maybe we do not have enough "interested" and "proactive" lady participants.

I'd love to see more of the opposite sex. Wonder what could drive more users to this great forum. Helps in cross pollination of ideas.

xkcd.com/322 for those who want the reference, and to help fulfill the Attribution requirement of the Creative Common licensing (never mind that you hot-linked it anyway) –  Novelocrat Dec 29 '09 at 18:00

Note that that page publishes the hot-link url, so it's not like he's trying to discourage hot-linking. –  Paul Tomblin Dec 29 '09 at 18:17

Computer [everything] is male dominated, I love the opposite sex too but I don't hunt them from places where I know I won't find that many of them.

Also gender doesn't qualify as an up or down when it comes to answering questions.

I'd say thats not true. Where I work; we try very hard to maintain balance between gender and you'd be surprised to know that there are enough women in [computers] just that probably they usually wouldn't pride themselves in being a high reputation stackoverflow user. :) As for the ideas; I think more minds mean a better answer; sometimes gender is relevant while other times not. –  user141053 Dec 29 '09 at 17:27

"a high reputation stackoverflow user"? Is Jon Skeet a girl?! –  Rubens Farias Dec 29 '09 at 17:39

You cannot know how many people are actually women but do not have revealing usernames.

yeah, but I am somewhat convinced that WE ARE skewed towards male gender. –  user141053 Dec 29 '09 at 17:37
