Which I search for something like "f-script" it seems like the - is ignored? Can I have special characters in my search terms or is it not supported?

try putting it in quotes: search for

"f-script"

(though I have no idea what "f-script" is..)

That's exactly what I did. My original question said "f-script" but someone edited. When I searched with quotes "f-script" it returns results as if I had searched for "script" – user141564 Feb 11 '10 at 15:01

Doesn't work. Though searching by tag [f-script] works fine. – Jon Seigel Feb 11 '10 at 15:39

You can use http://www.symbolhound.com as a tool for searching SO (and in the future, many other programming sites and forums). A search for "f-script" on symbolhound yields: http://symbolhound.com/?q=f-script .

Hope that helps! -Tom (co-founder) SymbolHound - The Special Character Search Engine for Programmers
