Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 155 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I just signed up on Meta (although, I thought I'd signed up before, but I must have been mistaken). After it created my account, it directed me to a generic "something went wrong"-type error page, and it never linked up my account with my Stack Overflow account. :(

Any idea what went wrong or how to fix?

Thanks!

I recommend switching to Google Profiles if you're having difficulty, for the reasons described below:

I'm trying to link this account to my OpenID (Google) account, but it's not working for some reason. I click the "Log In" button when presented with my OpenID URL, but it just takes me back to this account. :( – Brian Lacy Mar 24 '10 at 23:37

@brian as I said in the above link, I highly recommend getting a Google Profile. Looks like your IP addresses are changing between HTTP requests which means we can't securely map your GMail OpenID between sites. – Jeff Atwood Mar 25 '10 at 1:52

I see now. The profiles thing seems to have worked. I still lost my questions/answers on SF and SU however. Oh well. – Brian Lacy Mar 25 '10 at 15:14
