Why the triangles in the timeline are reversed?

Wrong triangles

The majority uses ► (or ◢) for contracted items, and ▼ for expanded item, for example,

It's the old, old question of whether a toggle button should show the current state, or what will happen when you click on it. I'm not aware that anyone has come up with a definitive answer for this. – bobince May 23 '10 at 9:00

I agree, but..

Timeline is a beta, unnannounced feature that isn't even visible through any part of the public user interface.
