Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I know there is a lot of work the SE team must to in order to get the next site up and running, but will you be ready to launch once 100% has been reached?

I must admit it is happening a lot quicker than I anticipated, but we are already at 89% on the web app proposal. We might reach 100% some time tonight/tomorrow depending on your time zone.

We're probably 10-14 days away from being ready to launch the first site into private beta.

The current plan is that private beta will last about a week, then the site will be in public beta.

We're sneakily slowing the progress indicator by multiplying it by 0.9 until then. So you won't notice.

(...except you might notice when it stalls at 90%) – Emmett Jun 17 '10 at 22:13
... and here I was going to make some snide remark about "but they get to write the code that defines the percentage, so it won't reach 100% until they're ready to launch" ... and that's exactly the case. Ha! :) – retracile Jun 17 '10 at 22:16
Hmm, the first 90% is 90% of the work. The last 10% is 90% of the work. I guess that's how it works out. – googletorp Jun 18 '10 at 1:02
100% * 0.9 = 90% reached! – alexanderpas Jun 18 '10 at 2:24
Does this also include that 'third' site for collaboration during the beta? Or is that still in undefined waters? – Tim Post Jun 18 '10 at 7:07
let the beta last 6-8 weeks... – Tobias Kienzler Jun 18 '10 at 7:18
@Tim See this post for official statement on the third place in the beta. – Grace Note Jun 18 '10 at 20:12
100% * 0.9 = 90% reached! and now not only for Web Applications but also for Gaming – alexanderpas Jun 23 '10 at 17:36
Is that 10-14 actual days, or 10-14 working days (assuming they let you guys have weekends off....) ;-) – Nick Haslam Jun 30 '10 at 12:13
