What Stack Exchange sites are up?

The Area 51 site lists and solicits proposals for new Stack Exchange sites. Where can you see a list of sites that already exist? For example, if you're thinking about proposing a site for math questions, how would you know that Math Overflow already exists?

Math Overflow and any other "existing" Stack Exchange sites are all Stack Exchange 1.0. According to the SE blog, most 1.0 sites will eventually either be closed down or migrated. MO is probably the most notable exception; as the first and arguably most successful SE 1.0 user, they're a bit "special", so they're not rushing to migrate just yet.

For the most part, you should simply not concern yourself with "legacy" SE sites when considering a new proposal - if you see a niche that hasn't been filled on Area 51, then just propose it. There are already several "migration" proposals for existing sites, like Personal Finance. This is a good thing, it helps to provide a clear path for migration if and when the proposal gets off the ground.

I don't think it's that we're not "rushing to migrate," but rather that the SE2.0 team is very busy and so hasn't had a chance to figure out what migration would mean for MO or discuss the details of it with us. –  Noah Snyder Jul 15 '10 at 16:48

@Noah: It wasn't intended as finger-pointing. You have special requirements that haven't been fully addressed by the SE team, and the actual "upgrade" is of secondary concern to those. IOW, everybody's taking their time until all the kinks are worked out. –  Aarobot Jul 15 '10 at 17:38

No worries, I was just trying to make sure things were clear. –  Noah Snyder Jul 15 '10 at 18:04

Thanks for mentioning my Personal Finance proposal. I do hope SO migrates existing content over from the SE 1.0 basicallymoney.com site when the SE 2.0 beta site launches. It's still unclear whether that will take place, or not. –  Chris W. Rea Jul 17 '10 at 15:50
