Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

I went into a question that I'd flagged for merging to see if anything had happened on it, and sure enough it had been merged.

Could we get a notation like [merged] on the front page for these types of questions? A migrated question shows [closed] at least.

I'd be fine with [closed] on these also. – Lance Roberts Jul 20 '10 at 17:19

If two questions are merged, does the source question persist in question lists? I would have thought it would be like a deleted question where it will show up only until the next cache refresh. – Jon Seigel Jul 20 '10 at 17:29

@Lance: Can you link to the question? I thought there already was a [merged] note. – Bill the Lizard Jul 20 '10 at 17:35

Just found one. It says [closed]. meta.stackexchange.com/questions/2051/… @Bill – Jon Seigel Jul 20 '10 at 17:38

But that one had already been closed. What happens if a question is merged before it is closed? @Jon @Bill – mmyers Jul 20 '10 at 17:50

@Lance: Thanks, I just misunderstood you. You want the annotation in the title so it shows up on the main page. My bad, I thought you were asking for a note on the question itself. – Bill the Lizard Jul 20 '10 at 18:11

@Bill, yep, that's what I want, it always saves time to have that little bit of information up front. – Lance Roberts Jul 20 '10 at 18:27

@mmyers: Good point. Maybe create a couple of test questions, merge them together and see what happens. – Jon Seigel Jul 20 '10 at 22:24
