Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 153 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

The "Hot Answers" page for a tag says:

Only top voted, non community-wiki answers of a minimum length are eligible

What is that minimum length?

Thank you for this definitively un-hot answer. – James McNellis Aug 26 '10 at 22:31

Well, I know Sam 'Waffles' Saffron was working on this feature a bit.

We were discussing this query on the data explorer. Although, I'm not sure which numbers he came up with.

I'M SO HOT!!!!! – jjnguy Aug 26 '10 at 18:38

@Kenny, well, if you could links and markup, it is over 300. – jjnguy Aug 26 '10 at 18:40

@jjnguy: Markup is already counted. Without markup it is 177. – kennytm Aug 26 '10 at 19:00

@Kenny That'd be markdown being counted, actually. Markup would be the resultant HTML tags that are used. – Grace Note Aug 26 '10 at 19:02
