Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

Hope, the question is clear from the title itself.

  1. How does comment sort order work?
  2. Is there any difference in comment sort order for question and answer?

It's sorted by date, unless you use a greasemonkey script, e.g. for threaded comments. If there are many comments, some (those with the least great-comment votes) may be hidden by default, however.

As for hidden comments, see this old revision of "How does comment voting and flagging work?" – Arjan Oct 28 '12 at 12:00
