Both data-type and data-types are more appropriate because "data type" is two words. The two words should be split with a hyphen. The only thing to decide, I think, is if it should be singular or plural. I personally think that data-types is the better tag, even though it is only used twice. Either way, the more commonly used "datatypes" isn't that great of a tag.

Given how popular [datatypes] is, I think it's safe to say the plural is more popular. However, [datatype] is a synonym for [datatypes], and I don't know how to recover how many uses it had before merging.

Given the relatively low use of both hyphen versions, I don't think we should draw a significant user preference.

Personally, I also prefer the plural.

Just to check - is this in support of rolling everything into data-types? –  Thomas Owens Sep 2 '10 at 19:52
