Meta Stack Exchange is where users like you discuss bugs, features, and support issues that affect the software powering all 158 Stack Exchange communities.

What is meta?
Here's how it works:
  1. Any Stack Exchange user can ask a question
  2. The community provides support, votes on ideas, and reports bugs
  3. Your voice helps shape the way Stack Exchange operates

The FAQ states that the daily rep cap is 200.

I’m already capped at 180?

Any idea what’s going on here?

Most likely you deleted one of your answers that had already received two upvotes. Deleted upvotes are still counted against the reputation limit (at least until your reputation is recalculated).

Hang on, you’re implying that deleting an answer with 2 upvotes subtracts 20 rep but also reduces the daily limit to 180 for me? – Timwi Sep 5 '10 at 13:03
@Timwi: It doesn't subtract the 20 rep (until the next recalc, that is), it just doesn't show it in your reputation activity. – sepp2k Sep 5 '10 at 13:14
Ah, I see. So to clarify: At the next recalc, the rep from the deleted answer no longer counts, but the upvotes from all the other answers will give me 200, right? – Timwi Sep 5 '10 at 13:23
@Timwi: Exactly. – sepp2k Sep 5 '10 at 13:24
Got it. Thanks again. – Timwi Sep 5 '10 at 13:55
